Introducing HexQuest: a next-level strategy board game that blends tactical depth, modularity, and endless customization.
Here’s what makes HexQuest different:
• Cubic Hex Boards: Each hex is a perfect cube (flat-to-flat = height), so you can build massive 3D landscapes. Towers, tunnels, bridges—you name it.
• Magnetic Pieces: All miniatures are magnetically joined for stability, letting you stack, link, and reposition units without worrying about tipping over.
• Slot-Based Equipment Composition System: Each Character Card (pre-made or make your own) can carry hex shaped “equipment cards” with up to 6 effect slots. Use those slots to assign effects, link items to dual-wield weapons, or imbue spells—strategic customization is deep and flexible.
• Dynamic Gameplay Modes: Play competitive campaigns and epic battle royale skirmishes according to the HexQuest Ruleset, or even integrate your existing miniatures (44mm-compatible) like Heroscape, D&D characters, or MechWarrior Clix.
• Creative Player Economy: Effects can be applied to equipment at camp or via a deployable “roaming forge” – combat modifications happen only when you’re ready, keeping strategy rich and thoughtful.
We designed HexQuest to be modular, scalable, and compatible—so you can craft your own adventures in 3D space, mix and match miniatures, and truly make each game your own.
We’re still refining some mechanics and component designs, and we’d love your input. Whether you’re a strategy game veteran, a tabletop hobbyist, or just curious about 3D modular board games, we’d love to hear your thoughts:
• What kind of equipment/effect combos excite you most?
• Any features you wish existed in modular strategy games?
• Ideas for cool 3D board layouts?
The best part - after initial purchase (which helps us out so we can bring you more great HexQuest ideas and content) the game is completely open-source, so you are free to do what you with with these files.
The Ruleset and Card Templates will soon be posted on an information page on this site, if you wish to play by the rules of HexQuest!
